The Community Outreach Program works to be a voice for change in the community through the following education and awareness efforts:
  • Speaker’s Bureau consisting of trained presenters available to discuss domestic violence, dating violence, legal issues and related topics with schools, churches, and other organizations
  • Special events, such as an interfaith breakfast and an annual appreciation party.
  • Professional training for educators, social service providers, law enforcement, medical personnel and other professionals
  • Educational materials, such as brochures and handouts, regarding domestic violence, dating violence, battering intervention, safety planning and related topics

Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse also works cooperatively with other agencies and institutions to develop and maintain a coordinated community response to domestic violence. Through the Community Outreach Program, the agency participates in several interagency councils, such as the:

  • The Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council

  • The Texas Council on Family Violence

  • The United Way Interagency Information System

We also have cooperative working agreements with:

  • The Bay Area Turning Point

  • The Bridge Over Trouble Waters

  • The Houston Area Women Center

  • The Katy Assistance Ministry

  • The Montrose Counseling Center
