The Community Outreach
Program works to be a voice for change in the community through the following education
and awareness efforts:
- Speakers Bureau consisting of trained
presenters available to discuss domestic violence, dating violence, legal issues and
related topics with schools, churches, and other organizations
- Special events, such as an interfaith
breakfast and an annual appreciation party.
- Professional training for educators, social
service providers, law enforcement, medical personnel and other professionals
- Educational materials, such as brochures
and handouts, regarding domestic violence, dating violence, battering intervention, safety
planning and related topics
Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse also
works cooperatively with other agencies and institutions to develop and maintain a
coordinated community response to domestic violence. Through the Community Outreach
Program, the agency participates in several interagency councils, such as the:
